Update from Amy Gibbs, Executive Director... |
February may be the shortest month of the year, but it has been full of meaningful progress and powerful reminders of why our work matters so much.
At Cadillac Area Habitat for Humanity, we continue to see firsthand how safe, stable housing changes lives. Every repair completed, every ramp built, and every step forward in the homeownership process represents more than construction; it represents dignity, independence, and hope for local families.
This month, our team has been hard at work moving projects forward behind the scenes. Winter doesn’t slow down the need for safe housing, and we remain focused on preparing for the busy building season ahead. From planning future home builds to advancing critical home repair projects, we are laying the groundwork now so more families can partner with us in the months to come.
Our Community Ramp Program also continues to highlight the power of partnership. By working alongside local organizations and volunteers, we are gearing up to help our neighbors with mobility challenges, maintain independence, and safely access their homes. These projects may be smaller in scale, but their impact is immediate and life changing.
This month, I traveled to Washington, D.C. to attend Habitat on the Hill, where I joined Habitat leaders from across the country to advocate for policies and funding that support safe, affordable housing. It’s an important opportunity to ensure rural communities like ours are represented and that the voices of the families we serve are heard at the national level.
I am continually inspired by the generosity of our volunteers, donors, and community partners. Whether you give your time, financial support, or simply help spread the word about our mission, you are part of every success story. Affordable housing is a community effort, and Wexford, Missaukee and Osceola Counties continue to show up again and again.
As we look toward spring, we are excited about the opportunities ahead, more families served, more homes made safer, and more lives changed through affordable housing. Thank you for being part of this work and for believing, as we do, that everyone deserves a decent place to live. With gratitude, Amy Gibbs Executive Director Cadillac Area Habitat for Humanity
