As we welcome August, I continue to be amazed by what we are accomplishing together. Every home we build, every repair we complete, and every volunteer who gives their time is helping create stronger families and a stronger community. Thank you for being part of this mission. Our construction season continues to be in full swing, with homes moving steadily toward completion and new opportunities on the horizon. We are excited to see partner families getting closer to achieving the dream of homeownership.
At the same time, our Home Repair Program continues to make a tremendous impact by helping homeowners remain safely and independently in the homes they love. From critical repairs to accessibility improvements, these projects are changing lives every day. Investing in Our Future
I am excited to share that we recently received funding to strengthen our Home Repair Program by supporting staffing over the next two years. This investment allows us to continue expanding services throughout Wexford, Osceola, and Missaukee counties while continuing to serve families in need.
As our organization grows, we remain committed to building a sustainable future through strategic planning, leadership development, and strengthening our team so we can continue serving our communities for years to come. Partner Family Updates
Planning is already underway for our next Partner Family application cycle this fall. We know there are many families waiting for an opportunity to achieve affordable homeownership, and we look forward to welcoming new applicants into the process during the month of October. If you know someone who may qualify, watch for more information in the coming weeks regarding application dates and eligibility requirements. Volunteers Make the Difference There is no Habitat without volunteers. Whether you're swinging a hammer, serving on a committee, helping in the ReStore, or supporting our events, your generosity creates lasting change for local families.

Looking Ahead As summer begins to wind down, we remain focused on finishing homes, expanding repair projects, preparing for our fall Partner Family selection, and planning for another successful Festival of Dreams later this year.

Board Member Spotlight: Bruce Wiltzer
This month, we are excited to spotlight Bruce Wiltzer, a valued member of the Cadillac Area Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors. Bruce first became involved with Habitat through a personal connection, but his commitment to our mission has grown through the opportunity to make a difference for families in our community.
In Bruce’s words, “I originally joined Habitat because a friend of mine was on the board and suggested that I join as well. My real joy comes from helping to build the homes that will bless other people.” Bruce’s willingness to serve both in the boardroom and through hands-on involvement with our home builds reflects what Habitat is all about—people coming together to help others achieve strength, stability, and a place to call home. Employee Spotlight: Evan Stieg, Construction Manager
This month, we're proud to spotlight Evan Stieg, Construction Manager at Cadillac Area Habitat for Humanity!Evan has been part of the Habitat team for about seven years and plays an important role in bringing our homes from plans to reality. From coordinating construction and working alongside volunteers to watching a new home take shape, Evan enjoys being part of the building process and seeing the impact it has on local families.
In Evan's words, "I've been with Habitat for about seven years, and I love working on the new builds and working with volunteers. Seeing the main structure go up is exciting." When he's not busy building homes and working with volunteers, Evan enjoys spending time with his family. "Outside of that, I enjoy wrestling with my two little boys and taking them for short drives."
We are grateful to have Evan's experience, dedication, and hands-on leadership on the CAHFH team. Thank you, Evan, for helping us build homes, hope, and stronger communities! |

Exciting things are happening at Cadillac Area Habitat for Humanity as we continue raising funds to support affordable housing, critical home repairs, accessibility projects, and other programs throughout our communities. Our Festival of Dreams is coming up on December 5, 2026, and tickets are officially on sale! This annual celebration is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year, bringing together friends, supporters, and community partners for a wonderful evening in support of Habitat’s mission.
We are also currently accepting Festival of Dreams sponsorships and donations. Whether it’s becoming an event sponsor, donating an auction item or experience, or making a financial contribution, every gift helps us build homes, repair homes, and build hope right here in our communities.

Taylor and her children are looking forward to the stability and security that comes with having a place to call their own. Through hard work, dedication, and a commitment to the Habitat homeownership program, Taylor is building more than a house—she is creating a strong foundation for her family's future.
For Taylor's children, their new home means a safe place to learn, grow, and make lasting memories. It represents opportunities, stability, and the chance to thrive in a community they can proudly call home. We are honored to partner with Taylor and her family on this incredible journey and look forward to celebrating many milestones together. When asked about her favorite part of her new Habitat home, Taylor laughed and said, "I have to pick just one?" After giving it some thought, her answer was heartfelt: "I would say my oldest son's room. He finally has his own safe space, which he and I are both grateful for." When asked if she would recommend Habitat's Home Build Program to others, Taylor shared: "I would recommend this opportunity because it was life-changing for me. Not only did I end up with my forever home, but the process gave me the tools for long-term success and stability." Our construction team continues to make great progress on our current projects! Here’s the latest from the job sites: Mark Lane New Build
The house is fully framed and wrapped, with windows installed. Soffit and fascia are complete, and plumbing and HVAC work are now underway. It’s exciting to see this home continue to take shape as we move into the next phases of construction! Walnut Street Rehab
We’re getting close to the finish line at our Walnut Street rehab! Interior trim is complete, the stairs have been replaced, plumbing and electrical fixtures are installed, and railings have been added to the porches. A few final touches and additional painting remain before this home is ready for its next chapter.

As I begin to wrap up my time here at Habitat, I look back at everything I've seen accomplished over these past few months. Numerous home repairs, watching a family get their forever home, and the countless behind the scenes moments.
The most important thing I've noticed, is the people. People like Amy, Flora, and Mike who work tirelessly to be able to provide funding, or repairs, or guidance to those in need. All the wonderful people in the ReStore who show up day in and day out to provide helpful services to others.
But none of this would be possible without volunteers and donations. It's truly been a blessing to see so many people with a heart for service and giving, from the 150 Builds Hope to everyone on the Board and the committees. My time at Habitat has been filled with joy, service, and just a heart overflowing with gratitude for this community of people! Allie Gottschall

Update from Mike Tower, Home Repair Coordinator… |
In Michigan, we are past the halfway point of summer and are approaching fall. Kids are getting ready to go back to school, the lights are warming up for Friday night football games, and crisp fall morning smell is starting to settle in. No matter the time of year, there are area homes that have needed repairs.
The home repair program is in full swing with ongoing projects. We continue to coordinate with our repair program families, contractors, and Michigan Habitat for Humanity to make progress with repairs on area homes. Summer is an extremely busy time of year for not only us here at Cadillac Area Habitat for Humanity, but also for our area contractors who are dedicated to providing quality work.
To ensure we can give our current projects the attention they deserve, and as we approach the end of our current funding cycle, we are not accepting new Home Repair Program applications at this time. We anticipate reopening the application process later this year as additional funding becomes available. Please continue to check our website and follow us on social media for updates on when applications will officially reopen. Thank you for your continued support of our Home Repair Program.
